Two Ozzy Osbourne Documentaries Compete To Be First Out

The beloved Prince of Darkness passed away in July. He had a long and beloved career as frontman of the popular band Black Sabbath. He spent over 50 years entertaining metalheads all over the world. Since the beloved rockstar’s loss, filmmakers have competed to produce documentary content on his life. The race is on to see who can produce a complete production fist. Keep reading to find out more.

    Ozzy Osbourne: Beloved Rock Icon

Ozzy Osbourne captured many people’s hearts as a beloved rock icon. He started his career in 1968, pioneering the heavy metal genre. Osbourne spent many years with the band Black Sabbath. However, nearly a decade as a solo artist in the 80s solidified Oasbourne as rock royalty. His antics on stage became increasingly controversial as he rose to stardom. Osbourne’s hit songs captured the hearts of many fans.

Rock Legend Ozzy Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2019. He later revealed his health condition to fans in 2020. He has spent the last five years sharing his Parkinson’s journey with fans. Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76. His cause of death was revealed to be coronary artery disease, as well as his Parkinson’s disease. Now, filmmakers from the BBC and Paramount+ are rushing to see who can make a documentary about the Black Sabbath Rocker first.

Production’s Race To Release Documentaries On Late Ozzy Osbourne

Over the last three years, the BBC and Paramount+ have been given an inside look at Ozzy Osbourne’s last days with his family. The productions aim to release documentary content of Ozyy’s final days with his loving family. An inside source said:

“At this stage it’s looking like the BBC might just pip Paramount+ to the post. But both organisations are keen to be the first to get them out there because they understand just how hugely popular Ozzy was and how well received these shows will be. Of course, there’s an element of competition there, but their main priorities are producing two shows that are respectful and that the Osbourne family approve of.”

Earlier this year, Paramount+ announced it intends to share the harsh reality of Ozzy Osbourne’s life with Parkinson’s. They stated they would soon release a documentary titled Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape. Paramount+ said the documentary of Osbourne’s last days would be “A deeply personal portrait of the rock legend’s harsh new realities and his battle to take the stage for one final performance.”

Multiple Documentaries On Ozzy Osbourne Set To Release Soon

The BBC is also producing a documentary on the late Rock Icon Ozzy Osbourne. They state they are putting the finishing touches on a documentary that followed Osbourne as he returned to live in the UK after years away in LA. The BBC planned their documentary Home to Roost to be out soon. The BBC crew filmed with The Prince of Darkness during the diagnosis of his Parkinson’s disease, and the radical change that creates in the Osbournes’ lives.

In addition to Paramount+ and the BBC, a third production company is expected to release a documentary on Ozzy Osbourne soon. The multinational mass media & conglomerate Sony has plans to release a biopic on the rock legend next year.
