The View just entered Season 30, which is historic given that it is female-centered. Yet, Joy Behar, who is an OG co-host of the talk show, just learned that she made history with this gig. So, what was her reaction to finding this out? Keep reading for what the 83-year-old comedian had to say.
The View All Started With Barbara Walters
No one knew how The View would fare when it first premiered in 1997. It was a roundtable of women all with various backgrounds and lifestyles. Yet, when Barbara Walters had an idea and came calling, people answered. The hosts may have changed, and Barbara may have passed away, but her legacy lives on through the hit talk show, which just entered Season 30. Joy Behar is an OG host who was only gone for two years, from 2013 to 2015. She has been on the show for twenty-eight seasons and just learned that she made history.

Being on The View as long as she has means Joy has hosted more seasons of an American talk show than any other female in the history of television. This is a huge accomplishment and likely not what she imagined when she first signed on. Moreover, Joy had no clue that she had come this far. So, what did she have to say when she heard about this feat?
“It’s amazing! I’ve been on longer than Regis and longer than the Jolly Green Giant!”
She then went on to joke about feeling old but not looking it, which is a typical response for the longtime comedian:
“I feel old, really old. I know I don’t look old, but I am.”
However, this was something that Barbara Walters told Joy would happen. She knew that they would get old at some point, so she told her that they “might as well spend it on television.”
A Part-Time Gig
Initially, Joy Behar was only on The View part-time. She shared that when Barbara Walters would be off twice a week, Joy would fill in. Now, after all of her time on the hit talk show, she revealed that she has cracked the code on how to do it properly:
“It’s a volleyball game. This is what I always tell them. Don’t be thinking this is a golf game. It’s not a golf game. Don’t come here with your one stick. No. You have to bounce the ball around.”
Season 30 is said to have a lot of excitement in store. Some former co-hosts are set to return, and it will be a lot of fun. However, Joy Behar will be the only one who carries the prestige and honor of being the OG.
