The nominees for the 34th Annual GLAAD Media Awards were announced this week, with the annual awards honoring media for “fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people and issues.” Of note here in the world of horror, Don Mancini‘s “Chucky” series, the second season of SYFY and USA’s hit series, has been nominated this year.

“Chucky,” which aired on SYFY and USA last year – a third season is on the way this year! – has been nominated for “Outstanding Drama Series” at this year’s GLAAD Media Awards!

Additionally, Nope, Scream and Bodies Bodies Bodies are nominated in the “Outstanding Film – Wide Release” category, while “Wendell & Wild” is nominated for “Outstanding Film – Limited Release.” Shudder’s “Queer for Fear” is nominated for “Outstanding Documentary,” and FX’s “What We Do in the Shadows” for “Outstanding Comedy Series.”

And that’s not even all the horror love this year. The “Outstanding New TV Series” category features a nomination for AMC’s “Interview with the Vampire,” while “American Horror Story: NYC” has secured a nomination for “Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.”

“With violence, harmful legislation, false rhetoric and other attacks on the LGBTQ community continuing to escalate, it’s more crucial than ever that our community remains visible and included in the stories that the world sees in film, television, music, journalism, and other forms of media. This year we have more nominees than ever before to represent immensely impactful projects that entertain, educate, and grow acceptance of LGBTQ people. From new stories that debunk lies about transgender youth to kids and family programming which allows all families to be represented, this year’s nominated media images are beloved by audiences and are creating real change,” said GLAAD President and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis.

The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies, which fund GLAAD’s work to accelerate LGBTQ acceptance, will be held in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton on Thursday, March 30, 2023, and in New York City at the Hilton Midtown on Saturday, May 13, 2023.

Head over to GLAAD’s website for the full list of nominees.
