With Rihanna performing “Lift Me Up” from the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack (for which she earned her first Oscar nomination), we enjoyed memorable ensembles both on and off stage. The 35-year-old musician made headlines swapping a cutout Alaïa number for a Maison Margiela by John Galliano getup that was dripping in diamond belly chains.

Ashley Graham wearing custom Alberta Ferretti, Vanessa Hudgens in vintage Chanel, and Lilly Singh sporting a magenta Christian Siriano coat hosted ABC’s “Countdown to the Oscars” preshow, while Laverne Cox held down the outfit reporting for E! in her custom Vera Wang Haute gown. It’s important to note that the 95th annual Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, sparked criticism, as many Black actors and directors were snubbed, with only Angela Bassett and Brian Tyree Henry receiving nominations for their roles in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and “Causeway,” respectively. Women directors were also completely shut out of the best director category. That being said, there was a wide range of designer representation from the crowd at large when it came to the fashion.
