Every Oscars Red Carpet Look That Made Us Do a

master mentalism tricks

The fashion on the 2023 Oscars red carpet was nothing short of impressive, as we anticipated given the list of nominees, presenters, and performers. The March 12 ceremony, which took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, marked Hollywood’s final delivery of award season style — that is, aside from the Vanity Fair party immediately following. With Rihanna performing “Lift Me Up” from the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack (for which she earned her first Oscar nomination), we enjoyed memorable ensembles both on and off stage. The 35-year-old musician made headlines swapping a cutout Alaïa number for a Maison Margiela by John Galliano getup that was dripping in diamond belly chains.

Other attendees who have been longtime veterans of the style spotlight included Cate Blanchett in Louis Vuitton, Janelle Monáe in Vera Wang, Halle Berry in Tamara Ralph Couture, and Kate Hudson in Rodarte. However, we also saw looks from the likes of Ariana DeBose, Sofia Carson, Ana de Armas, and Stephanie Hsu, all of whom are emerging to define their unique aesthetics and are often quite experimental with trends. Ashley Graham wearing custom Alberta Ferretti, Vanessa Hudgens in vintage Chanel, and Lilly Singh sporting a magenta Christian Siriano coat hosted ABC’s “Countdown to the Oscars” preshow, while Laverne Cox held down the outfit reporting for E! in her custom Vera Wang Haute gown. Of course, we gathered every designer detail from the evening’s best dressed in one place for your scrolling pleasure.

It’s important to note that the 95th annual Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, sparked criticism, as many Black actors and directors were snubbed, with only Angela Bassett and Brian Tyree Henry receiving nominations for their roles in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and “Causeway,” respectively. Women directors were also completely shut out of the best director category. That being said, there was a wide range of designer representation from the crowd at large when it came to the fashion.

Read ahead to see whose outfit delivered, and don’t forget to check out POPSUGAR’s printable ballot, along with the best hair and makeup looks on the red carpet that can always be trusted to come up big on glamour.
