Friends or foes? Scheana Shay and Katie Maloney may have started off as friends, but their relationship has grown complicated over the years.

The reality stars first met in 2013 as they joined the original cast of Vanderpump Rules. As drama between their castmates heated up, Shay and Maloney also dealt with their own interpersonal issues, including drama over Maloney’s friendship with Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute.

While the friends dealt with the ups and downs in their relationship as the years went on, things took a turn for the worse when the Utah native and Tom Schwartz called it quits in March 2022 after more than a decade together.

The drama between the former couple — who tied the knot in 2016 after five years together — escalated as Schwartz got cozy with costar Raquel Leviss at Shay’s wedding to Brock Davies in August 2022, a few months after Maloney filed for divorce. Maloney, who was not in attendance for the “Good As Gold” singer’s nuptials, accused Shay of trying to set up her ex-husband with the former beauty queen.

“It is very disrespectful what you have been up to,” Maloney told the former SUR waitress during a February 2023 episode of Pump Rules, accusing the actress of bad intentions over her invitation to Schwartz to discuss his divorce on her “Scheananigans” podcast. “What you did with Schwartz on your podcast was f—king gross. You and your podcast should just stop right now.”

She continued: “You do not need to talk about the most painful day in my life. It’s none of your f—king business. I don’t care what you think. There is no room for your feelings. There is no room for you in this. Get out of my divorce with Tom. I am really proud of where we are and you are derailing everything. You are meddling like a little troll.”

After the episode aired, Shay slammed her costar’s harsh words and exclusively told Us “it was projection at its finest.”

“Like, [Katie] goes on Reddit, she finds out information about us and then screenshots it and sends it to people and then comments on posts and actually trolls,” she claimed to Us in March 2023. “So, I was like, ‘No, no, no. That’s one thing you’re not gonna call me because that’s actually what you are.’”

The feud between the two women seemingly calmed down after news of Tom Sandoval’s affair with Leviss came to light in March 2023. Maloney and Shay banded together to support Ariana Madix amid the drama, who ended things with Sandoval upon finding out his relationship with Leviss.
