Isaiah Washington’s KKK Comment On Facebook Gets Backlash

Isaiah Washington is no stranger to controversy, and it looks like he’s found himself in hot water once again.

On Saturday, the former Grey’s Anatomy star shared a story on his personal Facebook account about the fondness he shared for his school teachers and old neighbors, who just so happened to be Ku Klux Klan members.

“I had some of the best elementary school teachers and even some neighbors that I knew were Klan Members, back in Texas while growing up,” Isaiah wrote in his post, accompanied by a photo of two white women and a baby dressed in KKK garb.

“I knew where They stood with me, and They also knew where I stood with Them. The boundaries were very, very clear, and I still played with Their kids.”

Despite playing with their kids, he revealed he still wasn’t able to drink from their outside water hose or come inside their homes to eat. Isaiah also mentioned their homes tended to be noticeably smaller than the one he grew up in.

And even though Isaiah wasn’t allowed in their homes, he confirmed his mother never turned those kids away. They’d eat summer lunch at his house while sipping out of the Washington family’s “vintage JFK water glasses.”

“I can’t help but wonder today, if Their kids are vigorously supporting me as an actor today, simply because I showed Them love and respect as a true Texan and a true American…”

“…even when Their parents and grandparents forbid Them to reciprocate it publicly. I wonder.”

Isaiah’s post was met with mixed responses, with the majority of them being backlash.
