Did ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ curse William Castle?

Castle 568x319 - 'Cursed Films II' — Was William Castle Really Cursed? Find Out In This Exclusive Video [Watch]

As the second season of Shudder’s tantalizing documentary series Cursed Films continues, we get a fascinating and intimate view of horror producer William Castle. While most fans remember Castle as the iconic Hollywood producer behind shlocky retro classics like House On Haunted Hill and 13 Ghosts, the mogul was also one of the key creatives behind the allegedly cursed production of Rosemary’s Baby.

Cursed Films II producers managed to sit down with the daughter of the horror icon, who dishes the dirt on the very real—and possibly supernatural—consequences of producing the film. In the clip, Terry Castle, daughter of William Castle, discusses the backlash her father received upon the film’s release.

After production wrapped, Castle also ran into some health issues, leading him to need serious surgery. That’s where the filmmaker believed he saw the reflection of the devil in his surgeon’s knife. Turns out Castle honestly believed he may have unleashed something truly evil onto the world by helping to create Rosemary’s Baby.

Check out our exclusive clip for the second episode of Cursed Films II right here:

Cursed Films II releases new episodes every Thursday. Watch the first two now on Shudder.

Lastly, what do you think? Could making a film about the devil really have had some sort of supernatural consequences for the legendary William Castle? Or is the idea of a cursed film purely superstitious? Let me know what you think on Twitter via @joshkorngut. I’m always around to talk all things Shudder horror!
