Phobias 568x320 - The 10 Horror Films Most Likely To Give You An Irrational Phobia, According To Reddit [Watch]

Another week, another killer list from the Reddit horror community. u/meowasaurusb is responsible for today’s nightmare fuel. They asked the community what movies gave them an irrational phobia. Clearly, Final Destination 2’s log scene that has scared a couple of generations now came up. However, many more titles also seem to have led to some specific fears among the group. We pulled our ten favorites to help you have the most stressful weekend. You’re welcome!

Arachnophobia (1990)

Where You Can Watch: VOD

A killer species of spider lands in America and goes on a killing spree. Obviously, this movie would be here. It was supposed to be a horror-comedy, but I do not remember laughing while being terrorized as a child.

The Ring (2002)

Where You Can Watch: Paramount+ and Prime Video

A journalist investigates a videotape that causes the death of anyone who views it. This remake left many kids in distress it seems. A few Reddit users mentioned they saw this movie so young that it made them afraid of televisions for a while.

Creepshow (1982)

Where You Can Watch: VOD

Even a child’s comic book isn’t safe in the hands of Stephen King. While the five stories that make up this anthology all stick out in our minds, being killed by cockroaches is the one that made most of us itchy.

The Ritual (2017)

Where You Can Watch: Netflix

A group of friends head to the Swedish woods and end up stalked by an evil entity. While all that sounds like a phobia waiting to happen, it is the getting lost in the woods that has Reddit losing sleep.

Jaws (1975)

Where You Can Watch: Netflix

When a killer shark starts snacking on beach bodies, a small group of heroes must hunt him down. This movie seems to instill a fear of the ocean in many people. Some of the Reddit community admitted to even being afraid to get into pools after watching this as kids.

Insidious (2010)

Where You Can Watch: Max

A family must fight evil spirits who have trapped their child in a coma. This movie has a lot of demons, possession, and jump scares. However, it’s the use of “Tiptoe Through the Tulips” that puts viewers on edge.

The Descent (2005)

Where You Can Watch: Max

A group of friends’ cave expedition is ruined when they get trapped and hunted by unusual predators. This is another one that could have gone either way, but Reddit blames the movie for their shared claustrophobia.

The Exorcist (1973)

Where You Can Watch: Max

A mother tries to save her daughter from the demon that’s possessing her in this classic. This terrifying movie unlocked a fear of possession among many people in this chat. Who can blame them because this is possibly the scariest exorcism movie in the history of film?

Ghoulies II

Where You Can Watch: Prime VideoTubi, and PlutoTV

The Ghoulies are causing chaos at an amusement park. Many movies on this Reddit list should have people looking before they squat. However, this is the one that still has many people checking toilets to avoid violent surprises.

Saw II (2005)

Where You Can Watch: PeacockPrime Video, and Starz

Jigsaw is back and going bigger than last time. He has 8 people trapped in a house as he plays games with the police. This needle pit scene shook me, so I’m happy I’m not alone. It’s still one of the most flinch-worthy things that have ever happened in this franchise.

Do you agree with this Reddit-sourced list? Or are there other movies giving you phobias that we should be talking about instead? Either way, find me at @misssharai because I would like to know.
