Exclusive Interview with Bulat of NELA Records

master mentalism tricks

We are getting to talk today with Bulat with NELA Records. How are you doing?

I am doing great, thank you so much for having me!

I would love to start with you filling us in on more about yourself and what NELA Records does.

I am an independent artist and have been making music on my own and with various bands for the last 15 years. NELA records is a Music Marketing Agency specializing in Facebook/Instagram Ads, Google/Youtube ads, Spotify marketing etc. as well as being a great little content creation space in North East Los Angeles (hence NELA). So if you are a musician, an aspiring youtuber, tik-toker, actor etc. and you need some help with creating content and then marketing it – we are the best place to start!

NELA Records is a refreshing concept in the music world. How did you get started and why NELA Records?

Like most people the pandemic has been a curse and a blessing for me. I found myself with a lot more time at home and I am lucky because I have my own music set up, so I dove deep into making a lot more music than I normally would. But this time I really wanted to learn how to market it, so I started researching about spotify playlists. I found that you can pay to be on playlists or you can submit on various platforms for free, so that’s what I did for a few months. Then I found out about Facebook Marketing for musicians… It was so effective for my own music and a light went off in my head! If only I had known about this sooner!!! But music marketing can get pretty complicated and it is constantly changing and evolving so I figured most musicians/content creators are not going to have time to get into the weeds of FB ads or Youtube ads, so I can charge money to set up and run these campaigns for people. That’s how it started.

How did you come up with the name? Any special meaning?

The studio/office where we are located is in North East Los Angeles which includes Mount Washington, Highland Park, Eagle Rock etc. That’s where I live and there are plenty of musicians, actors, content creators living around here so I wanted to encompass the local aesthetic into the company as much as possible, even though we work with artists from all over the world… local goes global!

Can you tell us what an artist may reach out to NELA for? How can you support a new artist?

So let’s say you are releasing your first ever song but you have no idea about how to do anything in terms of just setting up a spotify for artists or a youtube artist account. We can help you at this stage to create some traction and start building your fanbase according to your future plans, if you have new releases coming soon or you want to go on a DIY tour, or you want to build a youtube channel with acoustic covers. I learned the hard way over 15 years of DIY musicianship and so I know exactly how to cut that path from 15 years to one or two years, I know where the shortcuts are and where the pitfalls are.

If you are a more experienced artist and have done a few releases already and you kinda know your way around most of the tools out there but you still cannot seem to get any real traction — we can help you run a few campaigns and set up funnels so that you build a fanbase/customers for your own music business automatically.

Lasty tell us how we can reach you at NELA Records?
