Hailey Bieber Subtly Showed Support for Selena Gomez on Miley

Hailey Bieber subtly made it clear to fans again: She is supportive of Selena Gomez despite some constantly comparing the two women because they both dated Justin Bieber (Hailey is married to him; Gomez was involved with Justin on and off for 10 years, with their relationship ending for good in March 2018).

Hailey gave Gomez a little love publicly in a roundabout way. As celebrity news Instagram PopFaction first pointed out, Hailey liked Miley Cyrus’s Instagram praising Gomez’s Saturday Night Live impression of her. “HELL YEAH I’M MILEY CYRUS 🫖 @selenagomez @nbcsnl,” Cyrus wrote, quoting Gomez’s SNL monologue.

Gomez said in the monologue, “I also asked one of my oldest friends, Miley Cyrus [for SNL hosting advice], and she said, ‘Just be yourself, and have fun,’” Gomez mimicked Cyrus’s distinct husky voice. “I was like, ‘Miley, is that just an excuse for me to do an impression of you on the show?’ And she was like, ‘Hell yeah, I’m Miley Cyrus.’”

Hailey has liked Instagrams featuring Gomez before to show support. She last made headlines for liking Gomez’s September ELLE cover in the fall.

Hailey’s move comes days after Gomez apologized when some commenters thought she threw “shade” at Hailey because she shared a skincare video on her TikTok. Hailey regularly shares skincare TikTok videos, as she’s gearing up to launch a skincare line, Rhode.

Gomez expressed confusion at the outrage and explained it was never her intention to insult anyone. “This is why I believe in taking care of your mental health,” Gomez wrote on TikTok, in a screenshot Selena Gomez fan account GomezSource shared. “Guys no idea what I did but I really am sorry. Zero bad intention. Deleting soon.”

Hailey herself shared a TikTok in April asking fans to stop pitting her and Gomez against each other. “Leave me alone at this point. I’m minding my business,” Hailey said. “I don’t do anything. I don’t say anything. Leave me alone, please. Enough time has gone by where it’s valid to leave me alone. I beg of you, truly. That’s my only request. Leave me alone. Be miserable somewhere else, please.”

Hailey, Justin, and Gomez have all been very bothered by the fan discourse about them for years. In December 2020, a source told Entertainment Tonight, “Selena, Justin and Hailey are all tired of the Selena vs. Hailey narrative at this point. It’s exhausting for everyone, and they just want people to move on so they can move on too and not focus on any further negativity or past situations.”
